London City Champs
The event I’ve been testing for the last fortnight or so has now been and gone. I haven’t time to write a tournament at the present moment in time, but can give you some results and a quick look at the meta for the event. Decklists will follow in the near future as and when everyone has emailed me their lists.
With regards to The Lazarus Pit, we’ve filmed some of the players talking about their decks, a couple of humerous interludes. I just need to film the links and ‘in studio’ bits now.
The tournament format was Silver Age Constructed played over five rounds of swiss, cutting to a top 4. I don’t have the tie-breakers for everyone there, but we did work out the guys who went 3-2. Here are the results
4-1
Roy ‘Hotshot’ Raftery (Doom/Grodd Control)
Stephen ‘Shotz’ (F4 Equip)
3-2
Steve ‘Kamiza’ Garrett (X-Men/Outsiders Team Attack) +7
Graham ‘The Demon’ Beadle (Grodd Control) +5
James ‘Silent-J’ Warrener (AI/GK/RS Insanity) +3
Gary ‘Happymoog’ Hewitt (JLA/Team Superman Curve) -1
Nathan ‘Future Pro’ Greenwood (Budget JLA Curve) -1
2-3
Amy ‘Cheeselet’ Chizlett (Future Foes)
Amit ‘Amitverse’ Sharma (SS/Underworld)
Jack ‘Giantkiller’ Rutter (Defenders Backup)
1-4
David ‘The Bear’ Moakes (X-Babies)
0-5
Holly ‘Scorcese’ Humphries (Hellboy Lone Visible)
This gave us a top 4 of Stephen, Steve, Roy and me.
Semi Finals:
Steve ‘Kamiza’ Garrett bt Roy ‘Hotshot’ Raftery
Graham ‘The Demon’ Beadle bt Stephen ‘Shotz’
Leaving the two guys who made top 4 with 3-2 records to battle it out for the title of ‘London City Champ’
Final:
Graham ‘The Demon’ Beadle bt Steve ‘Kamiza’ Garrett
So there we have it, a slightly different meta from the recent US events plus me running out as eventual winner, bagging a ‘Heather Mills-McCartney (Jean Grey)’ T-shirt and a hatful of EA’s.
Good fun was had by all and it was nice to finally meet up with the two Steve in person rather than just over the I-Net.
Will post all the decklists and my personal match reports very soon.
