It is very rare I will build a deck based on mechanics. I don’t like multi-team decks, tending to draw the line at just two teams in a deck. There have been a couple of decks that break from tradition (My Random Waffling deck from the November City Champs and the High Voltage variant I ran at last weeks GD Invitational), though neither have brought me any joy in their victories as I find them to be soulless to play, ie there is no emotional attachment as there is no reason for the characters to be together in 1 deck.
My usual tendency is to Read more »
Being as I’ve just updated the decklists for the City Champs with two more decklists, thought it was about time I put up the final part of my tournament report. Read more »
Round 3 – Amy Chizlett – Future Foes
Amy is a regular at the Maidstone events and my previous encounter with her Future Foes build had been less than favourable. I had struggled to deal with the size of her early drop characters, but was hoping that the addition of King Shark to the mix would helpĀ on that front.
Its bizarre, but I’ve spent more time testing for this tournament than any tournament previously, despite it being only a City Champs. Maybe it was because all the members of Team Demon were going to be decked out in matching shirts, maybe because we were filming an event outside of Maidstone for the first time, or maybe because I was finally going to get to meet and play Steve ‘Kamiza’ Garrett in person….who knows.
Anyway, four of us set out from Maidstone East to make the journey up to Euston, we had arranged to meet the other three members of Team Demon up there. I’d had tweaked my SS Grodd Control deck till it squeaked ( see blog entry, City Champs – Decklists for my list) and was confident in its ability to finish the day with at least a winning record. Ive nicked this off of my forum as I’m still working on my tournament report. This is from Gary, the author of the Quintessentially Quirky posts on this forum.

The latest deck to appear in Gary’s series of Quintessentially Quirky articles actually saw play at last weekends London City Champs. So here it is – Another Brick in the Wall. Read more »
I’m going to update this as and when people fire their decklists over to me.
These lists are from the London City Champs that took place on the 16th Feb 2008 at the County Hotel. Read more »
The event I’ve been testing for the last fortnight or so has now been and gone. I haven’t time to write a tournament at the present moment in time, but can give you some results and a quick look at the meta for the event. Decklists will follow in the near future as and when everyone has emailed me their lists.
With regards to The Lazarus Pit, we’ve filmed some of the players talking about their decks, a couple of humerous interludes. I just need to film the links and ‘in studio’ bits now.
The tournament format was Silver Age Constructed played over five rounds of swiss, cutting to a top 4. I don’t have the tie-breakers for everyone there, but we did work out the guys who went 3-2. Here are the results Read more »
Its 3.49 am and I’ve just assembled my deck and a deck for fellow Team Demon member, Holly Humphrey. My Grodd deck is as tweaked as it can be, whereas I went back to the tried and tested Hellboy deck for Holly as I know it is always consistent.
Will be leaving at 8.30 to catch the train to London at 9.00 so better get some shut eye pretty soon.
At the tournament we will be filming the next episode of the Lazarus Pit as well as publishing City Champs meta information on here over the next few days.
Right, off to bed now
Be seeing you!
